Yamabe & Horn Engineering was founded by Ronald Yamabe and Gary Horn in November 1979. Yamabe brought more than 10 years’ experience in municipal engineering and Horn more than five years’ experience in private sector engineering to their own company, a combination that proved itself integral to the continued success of the firm.
Although the principals wore overcoats in the office during their first winter in business to economize on the heating bill, 35 years after Yamabe and Horn opened for business the firm grew from a two-man office to a staff of 38 employees, including licensed civil engineers, licensed land surveyors, designers, GIS specialists, CAD operators, survey crew members and clerical staff.
In 2009, the company moved it’s office into a new 12,000SF corporate building located near Shields and Fowler. The location was designed specifically to provide a more efficient workplace for the staff.
Throughout the years, Yamabe and Horn has sought to maintain a client-centered approach to our business, focusing on delivering high quality work product with exceptional customer service standards. Everything we do is based around this concept, including the sizing of our company.
We believe our status as a “mid-sized” firm provides us with greater capabilities and available resources than smaller firms, but allows for greater principal involvement and oversight than might be available in larger firms.
Our principals develop the projects from the outset, selecting project managers and establishing the project parameters and controls. As the project continues, they maintain close involvement and client contact to ensure successful execution and delivery of the project in a manner consistent with the expectations and desires of the client that were established at the project’s beginning.
Our families are important. We strive to keep a healthy balance between our work and family responsibilities. We will treat our fellow employees and their families as we would want to be treated.
We deal with real money. The fees we earn for our services are spent wisely; for our employees, for our company, and to provide profit to our shareholders.
We work hard to provide the best possible service to our clients. It is our goal to make them successful. Ultimately, we serve the communities we do work in.
We create the best solution for our clients by working together as a team. We are responsible for our own actions and accountable for our performance to our team
