GIS Technician
The GIS Technician role involves maintaining, analyzing, and visualizing geospatial data to support engineering and municipal projects. This position requires expertise in GIS software, spatial analysis, and cartography to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and effective communication of geospatial insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform GIS data management, and analysis to support planning and design projects.
- Develop high-quality maps, visualizations, and reports for effective communication of geographic data.
- Maintain and improve GIS databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integration with other systems.
- Conduct spatial analysis, including proximity, network, and statistical modeling.
- Manage and maintain ArcGIS Online applications and databases, troubleshooting and optimizing workflows.
- Support the development and maintenance of municipal mapping tools and applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to integrate GIS solutions into projects.
- Research and implement emerging GIS technologies, including AI-driven geospatial applications.
- Provide GIS training and technical support to staff, ensuring efficient use of tools and data.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal GIS-related regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and QGIS.
- Experience in geospatial data management, spatial analysis, and cartography.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Python, SQL, Arcade, or JavaScript for GIS automation.
- Familiarity with LiDAR processing, UAV mapping, and AI-driven GIS applications.
- Experience with indoor mapping, wayfinding, and 3D GIS modeling.
- Understanding of geospatial compliance and accessibility standards.
