Mohammad Alimi Receives ASCE Fresno Branch Lifetime Achievement Award

We’re proud to celebrate Mohammad Alimi, Ph.D., P.E., as the recipient of the 2026 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Fresno Branch Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mohammad’s career spans more than 35 years of engineering, teaching, and research. His work has helped shape public infrastructure throughout Fresno County while supporting the development of students and fellow engineers along the way.

Before joining Y&H, Mohammad spent nearly 24 years with Fresno County’s Department of Public Works and Planning, most recently serving as Design Division Manager. His responsibilities covered a wide range of public works projects, including roads, bridges, traffic signals, and water and wastewater facilities. Among his projects was the widening of Academy Avenue from two lanes to four along an eight-mile corridor, including the replacement of five bridges.

Sharing his knowledge has also been a significant part of Mohammad’s career. He taught undergraduate and graduate engineering courses at Fresno State, North Dakota State University, and the University of Alabama, and has contributed to engineering and transportation advisory boards. In 2020, both the ASCE Fresno Branch and San Francisco Section recognized him as Outstanding Civil Engineer in the Public Sector.

Today, Mohammad brings that experience to Y&H as a Senior Civil Engineer, supporting our municipal projects and providing engineering guidance to our team. We’re glad to have him continuing this work alongside us.

Congratulations, Mohammad, on a well-earned honor and a career with a lasting impact on our communities and the engineering profession!
