Trini’s Park brought a long awaited community gathering space to east Kerman. Named in honor of former Mayor Trinidad Rodriguez, the two acre park provides places for children to play, neighbors to connect, and families to spend time outdoors.
Located near Goldenrod Elementary School and surrounding residential neighborhoods, the park includes two playgrounds, a splash pad, fitness equipment, a half basketball court, open grass areas, and picnic amenities. Its development reflects more than a decade of planning and a shared commitment from the City of Kerman, community members, and the project team.

Project Team:
Yamabe & Horn supported Trini’s Park from early planning and funding through design, construction, and project closeout. As development moved forward on an adjacent 106 lot residential subdivision in 2017, the City advanced plans to create a neighborhood park that would serve the growing community.
Y&H prepared the Community Development Block Grant application through Fresno County and coordinated with County staff on environmental review requirements and the conceptual site layout. After funding was secured, our team led preparation of the construction plans, specifications, and cost estimate, coordinating the civil engineering, landscape architecture, and electrical design.
The park was designed to accommodate a range of ages and activities. Two playgrounds provide separate spaces for younger and older children, while the splash pad, fitness equipment, and half basketball court offer additional recreation opportunities. Open lawns and landscaped areas complement the active spaces, with restrooms, barbecue facilities, benches, and a picnic pavilion accommodating approximately 50 people.
During construction, Y&H provided bidding support, construction management, public works inspection, and completion documentation. Our team worked with the City, design consultants, and contractor to carry the project through completion amid the challenges of the COVID pandemic.
Community participation remained central to the project. Volunteers organized through the City’s Parks and Recreation Department and Build A Park contributed to bringing the park to life, continuing the local involvement that helped sustain the project over many years.
Trini’s Park received Outstanding Small Project honors from the ASCE Fresno Branch and the ASCE San Francisco Section. The project also earned the 2022 ASCE Region 9 Outstanding Small Project award, recognizing it at the statewide level. The Region 9 award was presented in April 2023.
